NASA is considering using a SpaceX spacecraft to rescue astronauts stranded on the Boeing Starliner

What was supposed to be an eight-day business trip has turned into an eight-month odyssey for astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams aboard the Boeing Starliner. Launched on June 5th, their mission was cut short when a thruster malfunction forced them to remain on the International Space Station. Now, NASA is considering a daring rescue plan: sending a SpaceX Crew Dragon to bring them home. By reducing the crew size of the upcoming Crew-9 mission, SpaceX can make room for the stranded astronauts. As NASA continues to work with Boeing, the fate of the Starliner mission remains uncertain, leaving the astronauts’ return date up in the air.
