Apple announced a slew of new products and operating systems at its Monday event, including iOS 18, macOS 15, iPadOS 18, iPhone 16, and iPhone 16 Plus. iOS 18 now supports the RCS standard, enabling seamless messaging between iPhones and Android devices. The iPhone 16 series features the new A18 chip, built on a 3nm process with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16-core NPU. Apple claims that the NPU is optimized for large language models, offering up to twice the speed of the A16 for machine learning tasks. The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch OLED display and starts at $799, while the iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch OLED display and starts at $899. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 13th, with general availability starting on Friday, September 20th.
