Nissan has unveiled a new type of paint that significantly reduces interior temperatures. Through a series of real-world tests, Nissan has demonstrated that this special paint can effectively control the rise in interior temperature, even when exposed to the scorching summer sun. Developed in collaboration with a Chinese company specializing in radiative cooling technology, this innovative paint has shown promising results.
During the development phase, it was confirmed that compared to conventional paints, the surface temperature of the vehicle body was reduced by 12 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in the driver’s headspace decreased by 5 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the time taken to reach the set temperature when using the air conditioner was also shortened. Beyond simply reflecting sunlight, the paint works by dissipating heat from the vehicle’s surface, preventing temperatures from rising.
While the currently developed paint film is relatively thick, posing challenges for mass production, Nissan is actively working to refine the technology for use in commercial vehicles.
